Prime Minister Dahal requests Indian businessmen to invest in Nepal



New Delhi, June 10: The delegation of the Federation of India Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) held a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachand’, who is on an official visit to India.

Prime Minister Dahal and officials of FICCI discussed the investment possibilities and areas of investment in Nepal at the meeting held today at Hotel Taj, where the Prime Minister was staying.

On that occasion, the Prime Minister Dahal mentioned that Nepal is a suitable country for Indian investors and urged them to invest in tourism, energy, agriculture and other sectors. He said that during the third Nepal Investment Summit held in Kathmandu, Nepal has created a suitable environment for investment by comprehensively reforming the legal structure.

“During the investment summit, we have amended various laws through ordinances, which have led to structural and institutional improvements in the investment sector,” Prime Minister Dahal said, “An environment suitable for investment has been created, I urge you to invest with confidence.” He says that Nepal is a suitable place for investment from the consumer point of view.

Prime Minister Dahal suggested that it would be appropriate to invest in Nepal’s energy sector when there is a long-term agreement with the Indian government to export 10,000 megawatts of electricity in ten years, and informed that it is in a state of preparation for investment in large hydropower projects.

On that occasion, FICCI President Dr. Anish Shah said that he and his members are interested in Nepal’s energy, tourism and solar energy. Mentioning that they are closely studying the measures taken by Nepal for investment, President Shah said that he is enthusiastic about investment in Nepal.
