Prince Dahal’s second loss in a row at the Paris Olympics



Kathmandu, July 30: Nepal’s Prince Dahal was defeated in Paris Olympics-2024 badminton on Tuesday at the Court No. 2 of La Chapelle Arena in Paris, France. Nhat Nguyen of Ireland, who is ranked 43rd in the world, defeated Prince in straight sets 21-7 and 21-5.

It took Nguyen 35 minutes to turn the result in his favor. Having won the first set in 17 minutes, Nguyen took 18 minutes to win the second set.

According to the National Sports Council, Nguyen scored 6 points in the first set and 4 points in the second set on Prince’s serve. On his own service, Nguyen scored 15 points in the first set and 17 points in the second set. This is Nguyen’s second consecutive participation in the Olympics. He also played Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

This is the second loss in a row for Prince, who is ranked 172nd in the world. In the first match of the group stage, Prince lost in straight sets 21-8 and 21-6 to Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen, who is ranked in the top 2 of the world rankings. In the final match of the group stage, Prince will compete with Israel’s Misha Zilberman, ranked 58th in the world, on Wednesday. Group ‘P’, which is considered difficult, has 4 players including Prince.
