Kathmandu, Sept 21: Work is on in order to open the Prithvi Highway by this evening. Vehicular movement at Muglin-Narayangadh section has come to a complete standstill for the past 40 hours due to landslide.
Spokesperson at the Department of Roads, Prabhat Kumar Jha, said: “Mainly problems have surfaced at Muglin-Narayangadh section along the Prithvi highway and Araniko highway. Efforts are underway to resume traffic at Muglin-Narayangadh section till this evening.
Similarly, works are on to bring Araniko highway into operation within three days by removing landslide debris if heavy rainfall does not take place.”A large number of passengers have been stranded due to road obstruction following landslide.
According to the Department, 10 highways– Prithvi highway, Araniko highway, Thori-Bhandara-Makekhu, Galchhi-Trishuli-Betrabati-Mailung-Syaphrubesi-Rasuwagadhi, Rani-Biratnagar-Itahari-Dharan-Dhankuta-Hile, Leghuwaghat-Tulingtar-Khandbari-Num-Kimathanka (Koshi highway), among others are completed closed.
