Rabi Lamichhane lodges case against Kantipur Publications

Kathmandu, Jan 2: President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Nepal, and former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane has lodged a case at the Kathmandu District Court against Kantipur Publications seeking legal remedy against his defamation.

In the case registered on Tuesday, Lamichhane has named Kantipur Publications’ Publisher Kailash Shirohiya, Managing Director Sambhav Sirohiya, Chief Editor of Kantipur Daily Umesh Chauhan and others as the defendants.

Lamichhane has stated that the publications carried out news for his character assassination.

Information Officer of the Kathmandu District Court, Chandra Prasad Panthi, said the date for the hearing on the case has been fixed for January 31.

In his application, Lamichhane has stated that the publications deliberately carried out news to seriously damage his prestige, dignity and even the political life.

Lamichhane has claimed Rs 151 in compensation in a symbolic manner from the defendants stating that the news caused a loss to his and his family’s prestige and dignity as well as his own political career.
