Rupandehi, Dec 19: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has been released on bail on Friday evening following an order from the Butwal Bench of the Tulsipur High Court.
The High Court had issued the bail order on Thursday, paving the way for Lamichhane’s release from Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur. In accordance with the court’s directive, Lamichhane appeared in person in Rupandehi to complete all required legal procedures. The bail amount had already been deposited in a bank, along with the necessary documentation.

Lamichhane’s transfer was delayed due to adverse weather conditions, which disrupted air travel from Kathmandu on Friday. He was initially flown to Bharatpur and subsequently transported to Bhairahawa by road.
Lamichhane was produced before the Rupandehi District Court at around 5:00 pm. Speaking briefly upon his release, Lamichhane said he was still awaiting justice. “I hope justice will be ensured. Let us have patience,” he remarked.
Earlier, the Rupandehi District Court had denied his release on bail despite the submission of the bank guarantee, prompting Lamichhane to seek relief from the High Court.

According to Padam Aryal, Information Officer at the Rupandehi District Court, Lamichhane deposited Rs 37.4 million as bail. Lamichhane is facing charges related to the alleged misappropriation of cooperative funds, siphoning millions of ruppees in Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd. (Lamichhane was the managing director and shareholder of Gorkha Media itself) and he had to challenge legal battle in different district courts, including Kathmandu, Kaski, Chitwan, Rupandehi and Parsa. #nepal #RSP
