Kathmandu, Feb 13: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will not re-join the government any time soon.
The joint meeting of the RSP Central Committee and the Parliamentary Party held on Monday at the party office in Basundhara has decided not to join the government for the time being.
A decision was taken to join the government only if the party is given the portfolio of Ministry of Home Affairs as per the previous agreement, said Joint General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti.
Similarly, the party has expanded the central committee to 40 members by adding 16 more members. The meeting also decided to prepare for the Chitwan-2 by-election to be held on 23rd of coming April.
The Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and leaders of the high level ruling coalition have requested RSP to re-join in the present Prachanda-led government. However, Prachanda has rejected and denied to offer Ministry of Home Affairs to RSP.
