Kathmandu, Aug 10: The preliminary insurance claims resulting from the damages caused by continuous rainfall, floods, and landslides in Rasuwa district on July 7 have reached Rs. 985,982,000.
According to the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), as of August 7, a total of 78 insurance claims have been filed. These include property insurance claims, nine marine insurance claims, five engineering and contractor risk claims, 16 private motor insurance claims, and 42 public motor insurance claims.
The Authority reported that Himalayan Everest Insurance received claims worth Rs. 550 million, Shikhar Insurance Company Rs. 169.63 million, Nepal Insurance Company Rs. 87.3 million, and Sanima GIC Rs. 68.48 million.
Similarly, Neco Insurance received claims worth Rs. 56.7 million, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Rs. 26.5 million, United Ajod Insurance Company Rs. 9.1 million, IGI Prudential Insurance Company Rs. 7.67 million, NLG Insurance Company Rs. 4.7 million, Siddhartha Premier Rs. 3.1 million, and Prabhu Insurance Rs. 2.8 million.
The flash flood in the Lehende Khola swept away the Nepal-China Friendship Bridge on the Nepal–China border, along with vehicles parked in the customs yard.
