Janakpur, Dec 11: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the remaining tasks of federalism should be completed on the basis of a national consensus.
Unveiling a statue of late Raj Kishor Singh Rajput at Aurahi of Dhanusha, Nepal, on Monday, Deuba said that national consensus was required to address the issues being raised by the provinces to strengthen federalism.
On the occasion, President Deuba shed light on the contributions of late leader Singh for the cause of party organization and changes since the time of Panchayat polity. “Late Singh was a treasure for NC party. His absence has caused a serious impediment to our party and democratic movement,” Deuba said while urging the party supporters to work to fulfill the gap following the demise of Singh.
Also speaking at the programme, NC leader and House of Representative Member Bimalendra Nidhi asked the political parties to remain serious since vital jobs for the implementation of federalism are still left to be accomplished, even after the two rounds of elections following the promulgation of new constitution.
Nidhi said that the upcoming Mahasamiti meeting of the party should make agenda for strengthening province and the issues of province police, province civil servant and related areas.
NC leader Mahendra Yadav, Ananda Prasad Dhungana, Ram Krishna Yadav, NC leader and Province Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav, late Singh’s son Dr Kunal Singh and others expressed their views on federalism, employment generation and advancing developmental works in the country.
