Resham Chaudhary’s final hearing begins in Supreme Court



Kathmandu, Nov 9: The final hearing at Supreme Court in the case against the government’s decision to release the imprisonment of the founder of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), Mr Resham Chaudhary, is going on from today.

On the occasion of Republic Day, President Ram Chandra Paudel granted amnesty to Chaudhary with the recommendation of the government.

Against the amnesty of Resham, Sharada Kadayat, the aunt of Police Inspector Keshav Singh Bohora, who was killed in the Tikapur incident, filed a petition against the President’s Office, the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Resham Chaudhary.

The writ petitioner has requested an order to revoke the amnesty granted by President Paudel and send Resham to pay full imprisonment.

The court ruled that Resham was the main planner of the violent incident in Tikapur of Kailali in the year 2072 BS and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

The decision of the district court on life imprisonment was upheld by the High Court and the Supreme Court earlier.
