Lumbini, March 21: Binod Rokaya of Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) has won the 3rd Peace Marathon, completing the 42-kilometer race in 2 hours 17 minutes 55 seconds.
In the event organized by the Nepal Olympic Committee with support from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Lumbini Development Trust, the Embassy of China in Nepal, and Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Sushil Kumar Shahi of TAC secured second place with a time of 2:18:16, while Narendra Singh Raut, also from TAC, finished third.
China’s Wang Qi came fourth, completing the race in 2:21:05, and Kenya’s Julius Mureyuki Waham finished fifth with a time of 2:23:00.
In the 21-kilometer half marathon, Purna Laxmi Neupane of the Nepal Army claimed first place in 1:17:10, followed by Santoshi Shrestha from Dhading in 1:18:40, and Nisha Sarki in third place with 1:19:19.
Similarly, Sunsari Rokaya secured fourth place, while China’s Ruan Xiang finished fifth.
The winners of the marathon received cash prizes, with the first place awarded Rs 350,000, second Rs 250,000, and third Rs 150,000.
Earlier, the event also featured a 5-kilometer walkthrough program, inaugurated by Zhang Maoming, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal; Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Chair of the Nepal Olympic Committee; Deepak Shrestha, Member-Secretary of the Lumbini Development Trust; and Kalpana Harijan, Acting Chief of Lumbini Cultural Municipality. #nepal #lumbini #marathon
