Kathmandu, Sept 10: The ruling parties have agreed to make the performance of the government and parliament more effective.
Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress, who participated in the meeting, shared that the meeting attended by top leaders of the ruling party at the Prime Minister’s Residence, Baluwatar, on Monday discussed the overall performance of the government and parliament.
He said that the meeting also agreed to develop a common minimum programme of the government on the basis of the seven-point agreement reached between the NC and the CPN (UML). In the meeting, there was a discussion on the amendment of the constitution based on the needs of the nation, he said.
Commenting that the main opposition party CPN (Maoist Centre)’s concern regarding constitution amendment in a misleading and unwanted manner, Mahesh Bertaula, the Chief Whip of the UML, who was also present in the meeting, informed that the matter was reviewed in the meeting.
He said that the purpose of the meeting was to speed up the work of the government.
Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, NC President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Ashok Kumar Rai, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Chair Mahantha Thakur, Nagarik Unmukti Party Chair Ranjita Shrestha and Janamat Party’s Abdul Khan participated in the meeting.
