Samajwadi Party and RPP pick Kaski-2 candidates

Pokhara, Nov 4 : The ruling Samajwadi Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have picked their candidates for parliamentary by-election to be held in Kaski Constituency-2 on coming November 30.

SP Kaski district chair Giri Prasad Gurung informed the party has decided to field its province committee member Dharma Raj Gurung in Kaski-2 parliamentary by-election. Gurung is an engineer by profession.

Likewise, RPP has decided to present its central member Rom Bahadur Bhandari, shared Surya Bastola, member of the publicity department of the party.

Earlier, ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided to pick Bidya Bhattarai, wife of the late tourism minister Ranidra Adhikari in the by-election.

Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has not yet chosen its candidate for Kaski Constituency-2. NC Kaski district had recommended a name list of 16 aspiring candidates to the centre.

The by-election is taking place in Kaski constituency-2 which was lying vacant after lawmaker from the constituency and minister for tourism and civil aviation Rabindra Adhikari died in a helicopter crash last year.

The District Returning Office has published a final name list of 71,871 voters in Kaski-2. It includes 33,106 male and 38,764 female voters.

Total 1,220 new voters have been added to the list this time. According to the election schedule, the candidates are required to register their candidacy on November 7.
