Saudi Arabia provided US$ 150 mln more for Nepal’s development effort: Saudi Envoy



Kathmandu, Sept 23: Saudi Arabia has provided more than US$ 150 million assistance through the Saudi Fund for development of hydroelectricity, irrigation, basic infrastructure and reconstruction.

While addressing a reception ceremony on the occasion of 93rd National Day of Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabian ambassador to Nepal, Saad Nasser Abdullah Abu Haimed said that the strong bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabi and Nepal have been enjoying since 1977, and the Kingdom is cooperating on sectors like human resources, trade and energy of Nepal.

King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud united the Kingdom on 23 September in 1932 and put the foundation of one of the fastest growing economies of the world.

He further said, “Today the Kingdom is witnessing a glorious era under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-aziz and His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, the Crowne Prince and Prime Minister. The Vision 2030 marks the beginning of a new phase of development and hard work for future progress as well as the pursuit of everything in the interest of the country.”

Likewise, starting from this year, 22 scholarships are reserved for the Nepali students each year to study in the Kingdom. More than 500 thousand Nepali people are working in the Kingdom in various occupations who contribute significantly in the economy of Nepal, he said.

On the ocassion, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, high ranking officials, diplomats, media persons and others were present.
