Kathmandu, June 3: The Supreme Court has issued an interim order not to immediately implement the directive to deploying people who have been charged of violating traffic rules as traffic volunteers on the road.

A single bench of Judge Til Prasad Shrestha on Sunday issued an interim order not to implement the directive of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

Krishna BK, Akash Bhatt and seven others had filed a writ petition at the apex court challenging the legality of Home Minister’s directive to deploy traffic volunteers on the roads.

It may be noted that Home Minister Lamichhane had on May 28 instructed the traffic police agencies to mobilize those who violate traffic rules as traffic volunteers on the road, along with keeping women traffic off duty in the road during menstruation. #nepal #traffic
