Editors’ Society honours senior journalist Ghimire



Kathmandu, Jan 18: The Editors’ Society of Nepal has offered this year’s ‘Editor Society Honour’ to senior journalist Yubaraj Ghimire.

Amid a function organized by the Society on Saturday, the Govinda Biyogi Journalism Prize instituted in memory of the founder chairman of the Society, Govinda Biyogi, was presented to Radio Didi Bahini 95.2 Mhz run by women in the district of Parbat, according to the Society. The prize carries a purse of Rs 25,000.

Likewise, the Govinda Biyogi Special Journalism Prize-2081 BS was given to DB Bista, a journalist based in Bajhang district, and Dhruba Rawal. Bista and Rawal were offered with Rs 15,000 each. On the occasion, Founder Chairman Biyogi’s spouse 90-year-old Krishna Badan Baidhya for her patronage to the organization for long.

Society’s Chairman Puru Risal, general secretary Shyam Kaji Dotel and other members expressed confidence that the Society would be developed as a hub for study and research centre for journalism sector.

On the occasion, former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha, CPN (UML) leader Amrit Kumar Bohara, Constituent Assembly (CA) member Khim Lal Devkota, Nepali Congress leader Narottam Baidhya and others suggested that journalists should be proactive to disseminate positive message.
