Kathmandu, March 20: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the local level formed after the establishment of the federal democratic republic has brought Singha Durbar closer to the people.
Speaking at the 32nd anniversary function held here today by the Municipality Association of Nepal (MuAN), Prime Minister Oli stressed that that there was no alternative to the local government, as a strong local level was formed with the end of the monarchy brought about by the long struggle and sacrifice of the Nepali people.
Questions have been raised about the structure of the provinces but nothing about the local level governments in course of implementing federalism. “Therefore, there is no alternative to the local government as this is the closest government to serve the people,” Prime Minister Oli said.
He also pledged to address the problems and demands of the local level gradually by formulating appropriate policies and legislations. All three levels of government must cooperate and collaborate towards this end.
On a different note, referring to the activities taking place in the name of restoring the monarchy, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that everyone should work towards strengthening the republic as the people have not forgotten the autocracy imposed during the monarchy.#nepal #political #rss
