‘State should take responsibility for education and health’



Kathmandu, Sept 25: Federal Chairperson of Samajbadi Party Nepal, Dr Baburam Bhattarai has spoken the need for the state to take up complete responsibility for health and education.

In his address to an interaction ‘End of partisan share in universities and reforms in education sector’ organized here today by Samajbadi Student Union, he said the state should bear all expenses involved up to the higher education level.

He also highlighted the need to being reforms in examination system of Nepal for quality education.

Former Prime Minster Bhattarai also underlined the need to end partisan share in the appointment of university officials and put in place a merit system for appointment.

He noted that the university should go for autonomy for required reforms.

Likewise, State-2 chief minister Lalbabu Raut said the individual appointing officials at the University should be from administrative front.

On the occasion, former Vice-Chancellor of the Tribhuvan University Dr Kedar Bhakta Mathema said the educational quality of the universities is eroding due to political syndicate and sharing on appointments.

He further noted the professors are not only involved in educating people but also in guiding the country to right track.

Lawmaker Ram Kumari Jhankri said the partisan sharing in the appointments of university officials has caused bg damage to the higher educational institutions.
