Kathmandu, Aug 29: The cabinet meeting on Friday decided to appoint High Court Judge Sudarshan Dev Bhatt as the Chair of the Special Court based on the recommendation of the Judicial Council.
The Judicial Council had recommended four new members along with the Chair of the Special Court.
Similarly, High Court Birgunj Bench Judge Narayan Prasad Paudel, High Court Surkhet Judge Hemant Rawal, Jumla Bench Judge Dilliratan Shrestha, and Birgunj Bench Judge Umesh Koirala have been appointed as members.
As per legal provisions, the government appoints the Chair and members of the Special Court in consultation with the Judicial Council. Accordingly, Friday’s Cabinet meeting appointed Bhatt as Chair along with the new members.
Current Chair Tek Narayan Kunwar has been transferred as Judge of the High Court Janakpur. The current panel of judges at the Special Court had been in place for the past two years. #nepal #judge #court
