Supreme Court asks government reason for dissolving the parliament

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: The Supreme Court has demanded a written reply from the government on the reasons for dissolving the parliament.

Following the hearing in the Constitutional Court on Friday, a full bench of five judges, including Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JBR, directed the government to present written reply from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Office of the Council of Ministers and the Office of the President.

Similarly, the Council of Ministers has also ordered to request a copy of the recommendation made for the dissolution of the Parliament and the approval of the President.

The Supreme Court has also ordered to demand a copy of the representation of all parties from the parliament.

The apex court has also demanded amicus curiae from the Nepal Bar Association and the Supreme Court Bar Association over the writ petition.
