KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued an interim order to allow local level people’s representatives who have left the party after being elected from the UCPN (Maoist Centre) to continue work.

A bench of Justice Kumar Chudal has given an interim order to allow the Mayor Rina Kumari Sah of Rautahat’s Maulapur Municipality and the Mayor Siyaram Kushwaha of Katahariya Municipality to work.

Recently, UCPN (Maoist Centre) wrote to the Election Commission to dismiss both the mayors citing they left the party. The party took action against these people’s representatives with Political Party Act. Accordingly, the Election Commission issued a public notice vacating their posts.

The Apex court has argued that the local level Chiefs i.e. Mayor have to carry out different vital and important daily work. With the absense of these officials, the local people will have to suffer very much, including development works.
