Kavre, April 16: The Supreme Court (Sc) has issued an order to shut down the brick kilns operating in Panchkhal municipality.
The apex court cited serious impacts on the environment and public health as the reason for ordering the closure of the brick kilns.
Locals filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on December 30, 2019, naming Panchkhal Municipality, Ministry of Forest and Environment, Ministry of Education and Department of Archaeology as defendants.
Currently, there are eight brick kilns operating in Panchkhal. In response, Panchkhal Municipality has decided to promote industries, including brick kilns, in a more environmentally friendly manner by implementing an environmental policy, as stated in a press release issued on Tuesday. #nepal #brick
