Surya Bahadur experienced, able personality: PM Deuba



Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the late leader Surya Bahadur Thapa was an experienced, practical and able person, who became prime minister not only in the panchayat system but also in multi-party democracy.

Releasing the former prime minister Surya Bahadur Thapa’s autobiography titled ‘Mero Nau Dashak’ (My Nine Decades), at a program organized by the Surya Bahadur Thapa Foundation here Thursday, PM Deuba viewed that the late Thapa is one of the unforgettable persons in Nepali politics. “Thapa is a well-known politicians in Nepal’s political history. He was a farsighted person,” PM Deuba said, reminding that various reforms were done in his time. The referendum was held during his premiership.

The autobiography of late Thapa can be an interesting and solid resources to know about Nepal’s politics and history, according to PM Deuba.

The book has incorporated the life history of noted politician Thapa- the experiences he had during his childhood, youth and adulthood. “I believe this book can be an inspiring work for new generation of politicians,” PM Deuba viewed.

The book brings the references of WWII, international events surrounding independence of India, Nepal’s 2007BS revolution, political transition from 2007 to 2017BS, the 2036BS referendum, the 2046BS people’s movement and declaration of multiparty system, Maoist conflict, the 2062/63BS second people’s revolution and upheavals around Constituent Assembly.

The decisions made during his premierships are also explained in the book.

At the function, former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal and Dr Baburam Bhattarai shed light on the various aspects of the life and contribution of late Thapa.RSS
