Tanker drivers, Nepal Oil Corporation forge agreement, petro supply resumes



Kathmandu, June 17: Nepal Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association will be withdrawing their protest after Nepal Oil Corporation and the association reached on agreement. Both sides hoped that the petro supply will resume today itself.

In the discussion held in coordination with Commerce and Supply Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, it was agreed to form a committee to address the demands raised by the Association. The committee will be mandated to study and submit a report within 15 days.

The Executive Director of NOC, Chandika Prasad Bhatta, informed that based on the report submitted by the committee formed in conjunction with the deputy executive director of the corporation, the corporation has agreed to solve the problem. He said, ‘The talks were positive. They withdraw the movement from today and transport fuel.’

Although the draft agreement is being prepared, the Nepal Oil Corporation National Employees Association has informed that the negotiations are underway. The drivers and co-drivers have stopped collecting fuel from Thankot depot since Sunday by demanding 7 points including salary, management of hazard allowances according to the Labor Act.

After the protest, the petrol stations in the valley couldn’t manage the smooth supply of petro products and long ques were evident in petro stations.
