Tea plantation in Myagdi community forest



Myagdi, Oct 27 : Tea farming in a community forest of Gaushawara in Beni municipality-2 in Myagdi started seven years ago as a test production has been a good harvest this year.

The farming was done in four ropanis of land belonging to Siddhabhume Green Community Forest at an altitude of approximately 2,200 meter above sea level as a test production, said a forest users’ committee member Ram Bahadur Gurung.

“Five thousand tea saplings of golden group were planted. Harvest time started this year. Farming is very good. Encouraged by this success, we are planning to plant additional tea saplings in the days to come,” said Gurung, adding that commercial tea farming can give good profits.

Besides tea plantation, Gaushawara, a model village rich in biodiversity, is famous for the production of various types of medicinal herbs.
