Kathmandu, Aug 21: A delegation from the Thai Nepal Association today called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Purna Bahadur Khadka.
The Association of the Nepali-speaking community in Thailand and Myanmar reached the Minister’s office to meet him.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Defence, the delegation said they have been residing in Thailand and Myanmar as the official residents of the respective nations, and urged the Minister to assist them in gaining officially recognition as the descendants of Nepali ancestors.
The delegation urged the government to ensure their unhindered movement to Nepal and provide them with the Non-resident Nepali identity card.
In response, the Deputy Prime Minister said his serious attention was drawn towards their demand, pledging to discuss the matter with the Prime Minister and adhering to the constitutional framework.
Prior to this, the delegation paid a visit to National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina.
