Three held with two kilos of gold from Nagdhunga

Kathmandu, Dec 8: Three people have been apprehended at Nagdhunga in Kathmandu, possessing two kilos of gold.

A Nepal Police squad from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Division detained Biru Tamang, Gyalsen Tamang, 28,and Sunil Bhujel, 21 from Gosaikunda rural municipality from Rasuwa along with the gold, according to Central Police Spokesperson Kuber Kadayat.

The preliminary investigations into the matter suggest that the gold was smuggled into the country via the Rasuwa point along the Nepal-China border, it is said.

Further investigations are underway. The contraband was concealed within the gear box of a pickup Scorpio.

Earlier today, the Tribhuvan International Airport Custom Office also recovered 14 kgs of gold from a passenger.
