Three ministers in Sindhuli to take stock of situation in flood-hit areas



Sindhuli, Oct 8: Three federal government ministers have arrived here to take stock of the situation in the flood-affected areas in Sindhuli.

A team comprising Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal and Defence Minister Manbir Rai, among the officials arrived in Khurkot this morning.

They observed the site of the Khurkot bridge connecting Sindhuli and Ramechhap that was swept away by the swollen Sunkoshi river and the flood-ravaged Khurkot Bazaar area. The Nepali Army has already initiated preliminary works on restoring the 51-metre-long Bailey bridge towards Ramechhap and opening it for traffic. The bridge was swept away by the flooded river.

Presently, the ministers are in discussions with the local people’s representatives, the Chief District Officer Lila Prasad Sharma, the Chief of the District Police Office, Superintendent of Police Govinda Raj Kafley and the locals regarding the loss and damage caused by the flooding and landslides, the immediate reconstruction of the road infrastructure, and the rescue and relief activities.

The ministers are scheduled to also visit Chautara of Sindhupalchowk later today. #nepal #disaster #RSS
