Transfer, promotion on basis of capacity and professionalism: Home Minister



Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane clarified transfer and promotion of police/employees would be made taking into consideration the capacity, professionalism, morality and knowledge.

In his address to a function after inspecting the Halchowk-based headquarters of the Armed Police Force (APF) on Saturday, he said many security personnel might have been disappointed due to unfair treatment on promotion and transfer. Lamichhane said such would not happen during his tenure.

Earlier, the Home Minister had warned the police officials of taking action if the latter approached political leaders and higher agencies taking favour to fulfill their wishes on promotion and transfer.

On the occasion, Lamichhane urged the senior officials to competently carry out the designated responsibilities shunning the tendency of imposing discrimination against their fellow staffs.

He asked the APF officials to undertake their performance with full confidence on administrative and managerial aspects.

“It is the service to the country to continuously deliver being deputed in the extreme cold or hot areas”, Lamichhane added.

He asked security agencies to enable environment so that ordinary people can also talk to the security personnel without hesitation.

Also speaking on the occasion, APF’ Inspector General of Police (IGP) Raju Aryal said the armed police has been discharging the state-designated responsibilities in a professional, ethical and dignified manner. IGP Aryal had presented the policy, institutional and structural reforms plans before the Home Minister.

On the occasion, the Home Minster had inspected APF’s central directive chamber, monitoring cell, central museum, various materials armed police used for disaster risks reduction and enquired information about rescue operations.  (RSS)
