Tribhuvan Army Club heads to India for Durand Cup Tourney



Kathmandu, July 29: The Nepali Army’s Tribhuvan Army Club has set out for India to play football in the Durand Cup Tournament.

The 42-member team led by retired Lieutenant Colonel Basanta Raj Gurung flew to Guwahati of Assam State of India. They went by the Indian Air Force’s plane today, according to the NA Public Relations and Information Directorate.

The football tournament organized by the Indian Armed Forces will run through August 2. The Nepali team were bade farewell by NA’s high-ranking official Saroj Pratap Rana amid a programme on last Friday, it was shared.

During the tournament, Nepal, a champion team in the country’s sport sector, will compete with Delhi FC, Chennai FC and Hyderabad FC, the A-league football clubs of India.

The Tribhuvan Army Club has been contributing significantly to the development of the country’s sports by hunting the sports talents and breeding them into fine players.

The NA has instructed the participating footballers to maintain high level of discipline and deliver their best performance. The NA believed that the friendly tournaments would contribute towards further strengthening the relation between the two countries and give a new height to both organization’s friendship and cooperation.
