Kathmandu, Sept 3: Two among 14 people injured in a road accident that took place at Pepsicola of Kathmandu this morning have died.
Fourteen people were injured in the accident occurred at 7.30 this morning when a bus (Ba.3Kha. 4848) en route to Pepsicola from Jadibuti collided a jeep (Ba. 6 Cha.5342) coming from the opposite direction, said Spokesperson of District Police Range, Kathmandu, Superintendent of Police Kumod Dhungel.
A scooter (Bagmati Province No. 02-037Pa 5311) and a motorcycle (Bagmati Province No. 02-041 pa 4838) also collided following the collision between the two vehicles.
The deceased have been identified as motorcyclist Raj Bhattarai, 21, and Armed Police Force personnel Usha Thapa, 25.
According to SP Dhungel, the injured are undergoing treatment at Motherland Hospital in Pepsicola and at Civil Hospital in New Baneshwar.
The bus driver involved in the accident, 24-year-old Janak Raut of Ramechhap, has been detained by the police.
Meanwhile, two people have died in a jeep accident in Jumla today. The jeep (Bhe 1 Ja 1099) heading towards Mugu from Gothijyula, Kanakasundari Rural Municipality-4, fell nearly 300 metres from the road at Chhalpunera of the rural municipality on the Nagma-Mugu road.
The deceased are the jeep driver Abiraj Karki and his helper Rup Bahadur Rawal of Chhayanath Rara Municipality-5 and they died on the spot, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prahlad Karki.
Police said investigation is underway in this connection.
