Two girls feared drowned in Mahakali river

KANCHANPUR: Two girls from Baitadi have gone missing after being swept away by the Mahakali river on Friday.

Kavita Tamata,16, and Sangita Tamta,15, of Dasharathchand Municipality-8 have gone missing since yesterday afternoon, said Assistant Chief District Officer of Baitadi Khagendra Bharti.

They were reportedly taking a bath in the river when the incident took place at a place called Nagatadi.

However, the incident was reported to the police and administration only in the evening. The security agencies were mobilized soon after but they were not found.

Meanwhile, in Tanahun, an elderly went missing after he was washed away while bathing in the Kaligandaki river in Devghat Rural Municipality-5.

Seventy-six-year-old Janga Bahadur Khadka, resident of Baidheshwar Rural Municipality-3 in Dolakha District has gone missing, according to District Police Office Tanahun.

Deputy Superintendent of Police of Tanahun, Yuvraj Khadka shared that Khadka has not been found as the police team searched until late in the evening. The search is still on.
