Two Indian nationals arrested with cocaine worth 170 million rupees

Kathmandu, March 30: Police have arrested two Indian women in possession of nearly eight kilograms of cocaine. The narcotics is reportedly worth Rs. 170 million in the illegal drug market.

The two women—Vallalomy and Esther Lalimpui were arrested at the Tribhuvan International Airport, as they were about to leave for India with the banned drugs, Superintendent of Police of Narcotics Control Bureau, Chakraraj Joshi, said.

The drug was found hidden in a false bottom in their luggage. A joint team of TIA Security Office and Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Valallomy from the departure hall of the airport after cocaine was found in her luggage. She was about board Air Indigo flight to Delhi with three kilograms of cocaine hidden in four different small bags in her luggage.

Based on her statement, Lalimpui was arrested with five kilograms of cocaine from a hotel in Thamel. She was also about to leave for India with the cocaine hidden in a false bottom in her suitcase.

Further investigation has been started against the two persons under the Narcotics (Control) Act, 2033 after remanding them to judicial custody by a order of Kathmandu District Court, Police said.
