Two killed in road accident in Jajarkot

JAJARKOT: Two people died on the spot when a jeep (Ga 1 Ja 1897) heading towards Rimna from Radi met with an accident near Chisapani in Athabiskot Municipality-11 Rukum west.

The deceased have been identified as Dulika Kaviram BK of Banfikot Rural Municipality-8 and Kamal Khadka of Musikot Municipality-11, according to the Area Police Office, Athabiskot.

They were reportedly the driver of the jeep and his helper, who were the only occupants of the jeep. The jeep fell into the Bheri River after the driver lost control, police said.

Woman trampled to death by elephant

A woman has been killed in an elephant attack in Tikapur of Kailali district. The deceased has been identified as Tanka Sodari, 50, of Tikapur Municipality-1, according to the Area Police Office, Tikapur.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hem Bahadur Shahi, two elephants came out of the forest at Sankatighat on the bank of Karnali River on Saturday evening and attacked Sodari who was returning home after working on the embankment of the river.

Three other women were collecting stones for embankment along the river. According to eyewitnesses, Sodari was trampled to death by an elephant.

Incidents of attack of wild animals have been increasing in Kailali and Bardiya districts as of late, with dozens of people killed every year in the area around the forest.

Cyclist killed in road accident

A man has been killed after being hit by a motorcycle. Ganesh Bahadur Thapa Magar, 50, of Gaushala Municipality-4, Magartol, was riding a cycle to Bardibas from Gaushala Bazaar.

Thapa, who was critically injured in the accident, was rushed to Janakpur Provincial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to Ranjan Mishra, Inspector at the Area Police Office, Gaushala. A search is on for the absconding motorcyclist.
