U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup: Bangladesh defeated Nepal by five wickets



Kathmandu, Jan 18: Nepal began their ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign with a loss against Bangladesh. Nepal lost to Bangladesh by 5 wickets.

Chasing a modest target of 53 runs set by Nepal, Bangladesh achieved it in 13.2 overs with the loss of 5 wickets. For Bangladesh, Sadia Islam scored 16 runs, Sumaiya Akter contributed 12, Afiya Ashima Ira made 9, and Jannatul Mouwa added 5 runs.

On the bowling front, Rachana Chaudhary, Riya Sharma, Seemana KC, and Pooja Mahato took one wicket each.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being put to bat first at the UKM Oval Cricket Ground in Bangi, Malaysia, Nepal managed to score only 52 runs in 18.2 overs after losing all wickets. Opener Sana Pravin top-scored with 19 runs off 32 balls, while Seemana KC contributed 10 runs. None of the other batters could reach double figures.

Bangladesh’s bowlers were instrumental in restricting Nepal to a low total. Jannatul Mouwa took two wickets, while Nishita Akter Nishi, Fahmida Choya, and Anisha Akter Sova picked up one wicket each. Additionally, five Nepali players were run out.

Nepal is placed in a group with Scotland, Bangladesh, and Australia. Their next match is against Scotland on January 20, followed by their final group match against Australia on January 22. #nepal #cricket #u19
