UML General Convention: Voting concludes with 2,227 ballots cast



Kathmandu, Dec 18: Voting for the election of new leadership at the 11th National General Convention of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has been completed, with a total of 2,227 votes cast.

According to Sanuraj Pokharel, Vice-Chairperson of the party’s Central Election Commission, the voting concluded a short while ago at the convention venue in Bhrikutimandap. He stated that 36 delegates were absent during the voting process. A total of 2,263 representatives were eligible to vote at the convention.

Pokharel informed that preparations are underway to begin vote counting from 8:00 am today. “It will take some time to complete the necessary documentation and reach procedural consensus for counting,” he said, adding that preliminary results are expected within three hours of the commencement of counting.

Voting for the new leadership began at 9:12 am on Wednesday. A total of 642 candidates had filed nominations for 301 central committee positions. As many as 80 electronic voting machines were used during the polling process. #cpnuml #nepal
