UML is with NC on development, democracy: UML Chair Oli

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli has said that his party was ready to cooperate the ruling Nepali Congress on nationality, democracy, justice, equality and development of the country.

Delivering his message of best wishes at the inaugural session of the NC’s ongoing 14th General Convention here in Kathmandu on Friday, the former prime minister reminded that cooperation among big political parties brought political changes and transformed the country to a bright era of republic from the era of darkness.

“Big parties like the NC and UML have been cooperating on the issues of the constitution, development, nationality, democracy, good governance, stability, social justice and equality.”

Claiming that some small parties are worried about being ousted from the incumbent government if the NC does not support them, he said, “For what there is cooperation among them? The UML is with the NC for building the nation. We are together for the purpose.”

He also suggested that the NC sticks to its policies and polishes its glorified history through this convention.

Chair Nepal suggests ex-monarch to form political party or engage in business

Chairperson of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal has suggested ex- monarch to form a political party if he wants to nurture his political interest, arguing that there is no future and possibility of the reinstatement of monarchy in the country.

“I want to tell regressive elements that there is no future of monarchy in Nepal. If former King wants to do politics, he can open a political party or he can engage in business,” said the former Prime Minister at the inaugural session of the NC’s ongoing 14th General Convention here in Kathmandu on Friday.

He suggested that all political leaderships have brought together all forces to institutionalize and sustain nationality, democracy, socialism, social justice and prosperity and embrace democratic norms and values in the country.

Prachanda calls upon political parties for unity, cooperation

CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called upon the political parties for unity, cooperation and common working cultures.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 14th general convention of Nepali Congress (NC) today, the Maoist Centre Chairman recalled that success in Nepal’s political movements is the outcome of cooperation among the political forces.

He also warned of politically unease situation or threat to federal democratic republic while stressing the need for unity against such moves.

The former prime minister was of the view that the one that attempted to travel alone and exhibited arrogance is doomed to failure and added that unity within competition should be sought without arrogance.

The cooperation was also needed to safeguard nationality as well, he added.

Recalling that the then prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala on behalf of the seven party alliance and Prachanda from the side of rebel party signed the comprehensive peace accord, Maoist Centre Chairman Prachanda said that his has unique relations with the NC.

Time has come to rethink what the political parties translated their commitments into practice against their promises made during the time of movements, according to Prachanda.

Likewise, the trend of defaming democratic leaders would invite totalitarianism and such trends should be countered, Prachanda urged.
