Kathmandu, Aug 16: United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator, Hanna Singer-Hamdy has paid a courtesy call on Home Minster Ramesh Lekhak today.
At a bilateral meeting held at the Home Ministry in Singha Durbar, Home Minister Lekhak lauded the role of the United Nations.
On the occasion, the Home Minister appreciated the roles of the Nepal Army and Nepal Police in the UN peacekeeping missions and urged Resident Coordinator Hamdy to take initiative to increase the number of Nepali peacekeepers in the UN missions.
In response, Coordinator Hamdy extended gratefulness to Home Minister Lekhak for the progress in transitional justice and expressed the commitment to provide full-fledged support from the UN in its the technical and financial aspects.
The Resident Coordinator has also pledged to extend full support in the areas of climate change risk management and early warning systems during disasters.
