Kathmandu, July 14: United States’ Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, called on Foreign Minister NP Saud today.
During the meeting held at ministry, the two leaders discussed the implementation status of the US grant assistance project (MCC). They also dwelt on Nepal’s upgrading to the status of developing country in 2026 and continuation of the US support to Nepal thereafter as well. The Foreign Ministry further informed that issues of bilateral interest also featured during the meeting.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Saud expressed gratitude to Assistant Secretary Lu for the US’ continued support and the special assistance to Nepal during the COVID-19 crisis.
In response, the Assistant Secretary vowed the US, as a long development partner, would continue assistance to Nepal. He further said there was huge number of Nepalis living in the US. Lu hailed that the Nepali community was contributing significantly to the US economy and doing very well.
The two sides also talked on exchange of high level visits between the two countries as cordial friends. RSS
