Kathmandu, May 30: The US Embassy in Kathmandu once again rejected the visa to cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane. Sandeep had applied for the US Visa second time, and went for the interview in US Embassy today. With the latest visa rejection, the hope of playing Sandeep in the T20 World Cup remained almost impossible.
Sandeep applied for the visa to play T20 World Cup cricket. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had already included Sandeep in the Nepali squad.
The government also wrote a diplomatic note requesting US Embassy as Sandeep was the key player of Nepali team.
A large crowd of Sandeep’s supporters earlier on Thursday protested against the move of US Embassy. They were demanding to immediately grant US visa to Sandeep.
Patan High Court recently acquitted Sandeep from a charge of sexual relation with a minor. However, the girl is still demanding justice, and claimed that she was the victim of trauma.
