Vote counting underway in Ilam, Bajhang, UML leads in both places

Ilam, April 28: The counting of votes under the by-election of the Member of the House of Representatives in Ilam constituency no. 2 was completed from Phakphokthum Rural Municipality-1, 2 and 3, the officials said.

As per the latest data, CPN (UML) candidate Suhang Nembang is leading the vote count by obtaining 3,783 votes while Nepali Congress Dambar Bahadur Khadka has got 2,782 votes.

Likewise, independent candidate Dakendra Singh Limbu has managed 784 votes and the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Milan Limbu obtained 561 votes.

Sixty-nine thousand two hundred and eighty-seven votes were cast in the by-election held on Saturday. The voter turnout was 59.79 per cent. There were 115 thousand 889 registered voters in the Ilam-2 constituency.

Nineteen candidates, including 12 of political parties and seven independents are in the fray in the by-election.

UML candidate continues leading in Bajhang by-poll

The CPN (UML) candidate has obtained the highest votes so far in the counting of votes in the by-election held Saturday for the province assembly member.

As per the reports, CPN (UML) candidate Daman Bahadur Bhandari is leading by getting 2,087 votes. As of now, the votes from Chhabispathibhera rural municipality and Thalara rural municipality-9 have been counted.

Likewise, Janak Bahadur Budha of CPN (Maoist Centre) has obtained 1,373 votes while Nepali Congress candidate Abhishek Bahadur Singh has secured 1,289 votes, Chief Election Officer Sudarshan Lamichhane said.

According to Lamichhane, CPN (Unified Socialist) candidate Dil Bahadur Singh has obtained 855 votes and Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s Kishor Khadka has got 34 votes.
