We are waiting for the decision of the parliamentary committee on the cooperative case: Thapa

Gagan Kumar Thapa

Kathmandu, Aug 29: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has claimed that Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane had to face nine hours of interrogation before the parliamentary probe committee in the cooperative fraud case. “The probe committee have found many evidences over Rabi’s alleged involvement in the fraud case.”

He mentioned that the committee’s decision is still pending, and advised for keeping patience to Rabi’s followers.

Speaking during a special session of the House of Representatives on Thursday, lawmaker Thapa said that the evidences of Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in the fraud case have been submitted in the committee, and emphasizing that the evidence presented to the committee was substantial.

He remarked, “Some colleagues in the parliament seem to have demanding the evidences. I believe we found what you were looking for. It is based on these facts and evidence that we pushed for the formation of the parliamentary committee. We drafted the terms of reference and specified the company’s name. These evidences likely led to the need for a lengthy statement, lasting nine hours instead of the expected nine minutes. I have confidence in the committee, particularly in Surya Thapa’s diligent work. I trust all my colleagues on the committee. I believe they were surprised, Rabi is not acquitted. We are still awaiting the final decision.”

General Secretary Thapa urged everyone to wait for the verdict and to exercise patience until the committee reaches a conclusion.

President of RSP Mr Rabi Lamichhane previously worked in the Galaxy Television as the Executive Director and program producer that was founded by Gorkha Media. Surprisingly, Gorkha Media illegally siphoned billions of Rupees from different cooperatives including Surya Darshan, among others.

The victims of cooperatives have been demanding to return their saving. However, Gorkha Media’s Chairman GB Rai has escaped from Nepal.
