Wet test of Seti River Hydro Power Project begins



Pokhara, Aug 15: The wet test of Seti River Hydro Power Project at Machhapuchre rural municipality in Kaski district has begun.

The test that involves filling water and rotating the turbine was undertaken in the 25-mega watt hydro power project. Water was sent from dam site to the penstock pipe during the test, said Manager Engineer Lekhnath Pandey.

The test was conducted by worshipping of head-work of the Project at Rajbagar at Sardi Khola of Machhapuchre rural municipality-2 in the same district. The wet test was undertaken after dry test, informed Pandey.

The hydro power project is promoted by the Vision Lumbini Energy Company, which will start trial production of electricity within 2 weeks.

The water of Seti River will be channelized into a 6,400 metres long underground tunnel and electricity will generated by dropping the water from the height of 187 metres at Chinte Bagar, it was said.

Water will be dropped in the twin turbines with 12.5 mega watt capacities each. It is a run of river type of project, it was informed.

Vision Lumbini Energy Company Chairperson Jagat Bahadur Pokharel shared that they received huge support from local residents and local government for the hydro power project.

According to him, the local residents have also invested in the hydro power project for which Rs 5 billion has been invested so far. Of the Rs 5 billion, over Rs 3.5 billion was invested by banks and financial institutions, said Pokharel, adding that remaining investment was garnered through promoters, local residents and issuing an IPO.
The electricity generated at this hydro power project would be connected to the national grid.
