World Cup Cricket League-2: Nepal lost to America by 3 wickets



Kathmandu, Oct 28: Nepal has been defeated by the USA in the first One Day International  match as part of the World Cup Cricket League-2.

USA defeated Nepal by 3 wickets in the match held in Dallas, USA on Sunday. America has completed the target of 287 runs given by Nepal with 2 balls left.

Shayan Jahangir, who became the ‘Player of the Match’, scored the highest 104 runs for America. He faced 97 balls and hit 12 fours and 4 sixes.

Similarly, Monank Patel scored 62 runs and Harmeet Singh scored 57 runs while Shadley van Schalkwyk scored 29 runs unbeaten.

Kushal Bhurtel took 4 wickets for Nepal. He bowled 6 overs and spent 23 runs. Similarly, while Sompal Kami took 2 wickets, 1 wicket remained in the name of Lalit Rajbanshi.

Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, Nepal lost all the wickets and scored 286 runs in the scheduled 50 overs.

Captain Rohit Paudel scored the highest 96 runs for Nepal. He faced 75 balls and hit 8 fours and 3 sixes.

Similarly, two openers also played half-centuries. Anil Shah scored 56 runs while Aasif Shaikh scored 52 runs. Similarly, Arif Sheikh scored 37 runs.

Nosthush Kenjige took 4 wickets for America. Similarly, Saurabh Netravalkar took 2 wickets while Jasdeep Singh, Harmeet Singh and Shadley van Schalkwyk took 1 wicket each.

Nepal is ranked seventh in the points table of the 8-nation tournament. Nepal has won only one game in 8 matches played in two series of League 2.

Nepal’s match against Oman last month, which was defeated in 6 matches, was canceled due to rain. It was the same 1 point that Nepal collected in Canada in a 2-2 match with Canada and Oman.
