World Cup Cricket League: Nepal lost to Scotland by three wickets



Kathmandu: Nepal lost to Scotland in the ICC World Cricket League-2 triangular ODI series played at Namibia.

Nepal lost to Scotland by three wickets in today’s match at the United Cricket Club ground in Namibia. Nepal had given Scotland a target of mere 138 runs for victory. In response, Scotland completed the target by losing seven wickets in 32.1 overs.

Scotland’s Christopher McBride contributed the most 43 runs. He played 47 balls. Similarly, Brendon McMullen remained unbeaten on 32 runs while Michael Leask scored 22 runs. Opener George Munsey added 17 runs while Matthew Cross scored 13 runs.

Nepal’s Lalit Narayan Rajvanshi, Gulshan Jha and Sagar Dhakal took two wickets each.

Before that, after losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal lost all the wickets in 40.1 overs and were reduced to 137 runs. Nepal’s Gulshan Jha scored 29 runs off 29 balls with three fours and one six.

Similarly, Gyanendra Malla scored 25 runs in 39 balls with three fours while Kushal Bhurtel scored 17 runs. Karan KC added eight runs while Dipendra Singh Airi was dismissed for nine runs. Asif Sheikh was ‘caught out’ for seven runs, while Sagar Dhakal added four runs and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi added three runs.

Scotland’s Chris Sole took three wickets while Mark Watt took two wickets. Brandon McMullen, Safyaan Sharif and Michael Leask took one wicket each.

After the first match between Nepal and Namibia was canceled due to rain, both teams scored one point each. Nepal will now play against Namibia on Wednesday. Scotland has climbed to the top with 44 points from 30 matches with 21 wins and 7 losses. Nepal is in sixth place with 18 points from 22 matches with 8 wins and 12 losses.
