WorldLink leads Nepal’s internet market with over 1 million users

Kathmandu, Dec 4: Nepali internet market has seen a significant influx of service providers, with nearly two dozen companies currently engaged in intense competition.

Rather than prioritizing improvements in service quality, many providers appear more focused on rapidly expanding their customer base. Major companies such as WorldLink, DishHome, Subishu and Nepal Telecom are among those actively vying for market dominance.

According to the latest data released by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, the regulatory body of telecom sector in Nepal, WorldLink continues to hold the largest share of the market.

As per the Authority’s report for the month of Ashoj (September/Octorber), WorldLink remains the leading internet service provider in terms of customer numbers, having reached 1.036 million users. DishHome follows in second place with 377,000 subscribers. The government-owned Nepal Telecom (Nepal Doorsanchar Company) ranks third, serving 360,000 customers.

Vianet, which has adopted an aggressive market expansion strategy, holds the fourth position with 325,000 customers. Classic Tech secures the fifth position with 259,000 subscribers as of the end of Ashoj.

Subisu Internet ranks sixth with 254,000 customers, while Websurfer stands in seventh place with 176,000 customers.

Similarly, TechMinds is positioned eighth with 115,000 users. WiFi Nepal ranks ninth, and CG Communications occupies the tenth position in terms of market share.

Despite the growing number of providers and the competitive atmosphere, consumer satisfaction remains low. Many users continue to report that internet service providers are slow to address technical issues and often fail to resolve problems in a timely manner. #nepal #internet
