Yeti Airlines plane crashes in Pokhara, 68 passengers onboard



Kathmandu: A Yeti Airlines plane has crashed in Pokhara. The Yeti Airlines ATR-72 plane crashed. The plane had flown for Pokhara from Kathmandu at 10.33 am today.

Yeti Airlines spokesman Suman Bartaula said that two pilots, two air hostesses and 68 passengers were on board the ill-fated plane.

Chief District Officer of Kaski, Tek Bahadur KC informed RSS that the hospital and ambulances have been alerted after information was received that a plane has crashed in the Seti river gorge.


PM Dahal expresses sorrow over plane crash

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed sorrow over the plane crash in Pokhara today. An ATR-72 plane belonging to Yeti Airlines that had left Kathmandu for Pokhara crashed this morning.

The Prime Minister has instructed the Home Ministry, the security personnel and all the government bodies to swing into action for rescue. The PM’s Secretariat has stated that the prime minister has gone to Tribhuvan Airport to take updates on the plane crash.

Prime Minister Dahal has called an emergency meeting of the Cabinet over the crash.

Home Minister Lamichhane directs for prompt, effective rescue

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane has directed the bodies concerned to ensure the effective and prompt rescue efforts over the Yeti Airlines crash took place in Pokhara today.

He instructed the Home Secretary, chief of Security and Coordination Division, the Kaski District Administration Office and the security bodies not to leave any stone unturned to guarantee prompt and effective rescue efforts in the aftermath of the plane crash, according to his press coordinator Nawaraj Pandey.

The Minister reached Tribhuvan International Airport to take updates of the incident. The Yeti Airlines aircraft that left for Pokhara from TIA carrying 68 passengers crashed following a failed landing at Pokhara Regional International Airport this morning. The plane was handled by four crew members. Now, rescue works go on. Further details of the incident are awaited. (RSS)
