KATHMANDU, Dec 02: The Department of Foreign Employment has taken action against three companies for conducting interviews illegally. Last Monday and Tuesday, the Department raided three manpower companies based on information that they had been interviewed without prior approval of the demand for Qatari police.
The Department has suspended Hope International Plc in Lazimpat, SOS Manpower Service Plc in Dhapasi and DD Human Resource Plc in Gaurighat for six months. According to Tikamani Neupane, information officer at the Department, it has been suspended all of their activities as a first step action. According to Neupane, further action will be taken as per the provisions of the act.
Article 61 of the Foreign Employment Act, 2064 BS provides for suspension of work for six months and financial penalty as per the law if the manpower company conducts interview without informing the concerned body. There is the provision of a fine of Rs. 3 to 5 lakhs and imprisonment for 3 to 7 years as well.
The Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association, an umbrella organization of foreign employment entrepreneurs, has removed the three companies from its general membership saying that all the entrepreneurs felt ashamed while doing illegal work.
A meeting held a few days ago decided to remove the company even from ordinary member, said Sujit Kumar Shrestha, General Secretary of the Association.
According to media reports, some Nepali youth have already enrolled in the Qatari police force. A second batch of youth were preparing for the interview. However, each of the youth had to pay a large sum of money for the recruitment which is against the rule of the government.
Sources said that each aspiring youth had to pay nearly Rs. 1,000,000 to manpower agencies.
