12 snakebite cases reported in 24 hours



Kathmandu, June 27: A person died and 13 others were injured in various incidents of snakebites that occurred over the past 24 hours.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 25 incidents were recorded during this period, 12 of which were snakebite cases.

Authority Spokesperson Shanti Mahat said a snake of an unidentified species bit a child to death in Bara district. The incident happened while the child was playing.

Snakebite cases have been reported from Sankhuwasabha, Bara, Nawalparasi East, Kapilvastu, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts.

Likewise, one person was injured in a landslide in Bajhang, another in an animal attack in Dolakha, and one more in a fire in Kaski.

The total estimated economic losses from these incidents stood at Rs 277,000.
