14 most popular electric four-wheelers in Nepal



Kathmandu, Sept 12: New brands have emerged in the electric four-wheeler market of Nepal such as Dongfeng Nammi, LeapMotor, Riddara, Volts, Jaecoo, Xpeng, BAW, Kaiyi, Zeekr and Avatr. These and other brands were on display at the recently concluded NADA Auto Show 2024. 

Here is the list of 14 popular brands available in Nepali market.

1. MG Cyberster

The Shanghai-based carmaker SAIC Motor has been producing  MG Cyberster. The popular electric roadster has a powerful performance and sleek looks. With two variants available in the international market, the Nepali market is set to get a rear wheel drive option with a 77 kWh battery pack with a range of around 508 Km (WLTP). The scissor-opening doors, LED light setup, convertible roof and 10.25-inch touchscreen are some of the roadster features. The MG Cyberster is available in Nepal at Rs 16,800,000.

2. Jaecoo J6

The Jaecoo J6 is another on the list of popular electric cars in Nepal. The Jaecoo J6 is a stylish electric SUV with an aggressive modern design, performance and practicality. It is powered by a 135 kW motor with 220 Nm of torque. The J6 is complemented by a 69.8 kWh battery that offers a range of 400 km (WLTP). The Jaecoo J6 is priced at NRs. 69,99,000 in Nepal.

3. Tata Punch EV

Tata’s Punch EV is one of the best Indian compact electric SUV available in three trim in Nepal. Empowered+ S MR, Empowered LR and Empowered +S LR are the three designs. Last year, Tata unveiled the ICE Tata Punch alongside the popular Tiago EV and Nexon EV Max. The ICE option Punch did decent in the Nepal market, however, things are set to change with the Punch EV. Like the Tiago EV and the Nexon EV, the Punch is also set to conquer the compact electric SUV category in Nepal. According to sources, more than 600 clients have already booked their vehicle in the NADA Auto Show.

The Punch EV’s three options; Empowered+ S MR is official at Rs 3,399,000, Empowered LR is official at Rs 3,699,000 and Empowered+ S LR is official at Rs 3,899,000.

4. Skywell BE11

Skywell Nepal has introduced the new Skywell BE11. The Skywell BE11 is available in two trim options; 51.92 kWh battery option and 71.98 kWh battery option. Both have a 150 kW motor which is set to provide an expected range of 410 km and 520 km. Skywell Motors’ first electric SUV, the Skywell ET5 was launched last year and has the highest electric range in Nepal of 620 km. The BE11 shares the same body as the ET5 but the only change are the powertrain and performance.

The Skywell BE11 with 51.92 kWh battery is set to cost Rs 79,90,000 whereas the one with the 71.98 kWh battery option is set to cost Rs 89,90,000.

5. Dongfeng Nammi (E1,E2,E3)

One of the highly anticipated electric four-wheelers in recent times is the Dongfeng Nammi. The Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng has entered the Nepali electric market with the Nammi electric hatchback range. The Nammi range includes three options; E1 and E2 with 31.4 kWh battery pack and E3 with 42.3 kWh battery. The E1 and E2 have a range of 237 km(WLTP) whereas the E3 has a range of 317 km(WLTP). The E1 and E2 differ in their internal features whereas the E3 differs in performance and the internal features. The Nammi E1 costs Rs 29,99,000, the Nammi E2 costs Rs 31,99,000 whereas the Nammi E3 costs 34,99,000.

6. Riddara RD6

The pickup truck came in the form of the electrified Riddara RD6. The electric pick-up has a sleek silhouette, bold looks and sleek LED headlights with ruggedness for the off-road capability.

The spacious cabin offers comfort and functionality whereas the performance part is handled by the 200 kW motor delivering 384 Nm of torque. The RD6 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. It has a 63 kWh battery, providing a driving range of 377 km (NEDC) with 220 mm ground clearance. The Riddara RD6 is official at Rs 65,00,000.

7. Leapmotor C10

Another family SUV from a well-known Chinese EV maker, Leapmotor C10 has also been launched at the 2024. Officially distributed by Shangrilla Motors, the Leapmotor C10 is a simple and modern electric SUV with tons of features built into it. The sleek LED headlight setup on the front and connected taillamps add to the simple and elegant look. In terms of performance, the C10 has a 69.9 kWh battery mounted with a 160 kW motor. Combined the electric SUV gives a WLTP range of 420 km. The Leapmotor C10 is official in Nepal for Rs 72,00,000.

8. Kia EV6 and Kia EV9

The South Korean four-wheeler manufacturer displayed four popular models: the Kia EV6, Kia EV8 Kia Seltos and the Kia Sonet. The Kia EV6 was launched quite some time ago and has quite the buzz for its futuristic looks and performance. The Kia EV6 has a 77.5 kWh battery capacity, delivering a range of around 528 km. The EV6 costs Rs 1,25,90,000 in Nepal.

The 7-seater family electric SUV, the Kia EV9 has also caught the eye of many EV enthusiasts. The electric SUV was launched back in May this year with the 160 kW motor paired with a 76.1 kWh battery delivering a WLTP range of 443 km. The EV9 costs Rs 1,79,90,000 in Nepal.

9. Zeekr X

Zeekr is a Chinese EV brand founded in 2021 as a subsidiary of Geely Automobile Holdings. The brand’s first model comes as the Zeekr X. The compact SUV falls in the luxury segment with two options available. The first is a single-motor RWD option with a 66 kWh battery pack which gives a WLTP range of 440 km and the second is a dual-motor AWD option with the same 66 kWh battery pack which delivers a WLTP range of 420 km. The single-motor option costs Rs 99,99,000 whereas the dual-motor option costs Rs 1,49,00,000.

10. Avatr 11

The Chinese brand Avatr with the Avatr 11 is available in Nepali market. The Avatr 11 is one of the most unique looks electric SUVs. The electric SUV has thin curved LED lights at the front and a coupe-shaped back with a simple straight connected tail light. The electric SUV has one of the largest 21-inch tyres for a sporty feel and performance.

The Avatr 11 is available in two battery options; 90 kWh which costs Rs 1,45,00,000 and 116 kWh which costs Rs 1,60,00,000. The 90 kWh battery option has a NEDC range of 575 km and the 116 kWh battery option has a NEDC range of 680 km.

11. Deepal L07

The most popular electric car brand in the recent couple of months is Deepal. The Chinese electric car company entered the Nepali car market with the Deepal S07 and has been a tough competitor in the price range. Now Deepal has introduced the Deepal L07 an electric sedan with sleek looks and modern features. The body style of the Deepal L07 is quite confusing. Is it a hatchback or a sedan? The rear boot is accessible from the inside and is not a separate compartment which technically makes it a hatchback. However, the body is styled in a sedan shape and many refer it to as a sedan.

The Deepal L07 has a 66.8 kWh battery with a 99 kW motor. Combined it gives a range of around 530 km. The L07 is official at Rs 69,99,000.

12. Neta X

CG Motors’ popular Neta electric car has got a new addition to its lineup. The Neta X is an electric SUV with three options available; Comfort, Comfort long range and Luxury. All the three variants share a 100 kW motor. The Comfort has a 52 kWh battery delivering 400 km of range whereas the Comfort long range and Luxury option has a 62 kWh battery delivering a range of 500 km. The Comfort costs Rs 53,99,000, Comfort long-range costs Rs 57,99,000 and Luxury costs Rs 62,00,000.

13. Xpeng G6

Xpeng is a leading Chinese electric car manufacturer and has electric cars in many forms such as sedans, compact SUVs and SUVs. The G6 is a coupe-shaped SUV with a modern look and powerful performance. The G6 has a 66 kWh battery which is paired with a 190 kW single-motor with RWD giving a WLTP range of around 435 km. The Xpeng G6 has a luxurious interior with advanced safety features including ADAS and other passive safety features.

14. BYD Sealion 7 and Atto 3

One of the reigning electric car brands in Nepal is the popular Chinese electric car brand, BYD. BYD has three electric cars currently in Nepal; BYD Seal, BYD Atto 3 and BYD Dolphin. Recently BYD has launched two trim option vehicles; Advanced which costs Rs 56,90,000 and Superior which costs 67,80,000. Alongside the 2024 ATTO 3, BYD has also added a new colour option in the Dolphin lineup with the Ski White colour. The main head turner from BYD is the BYD Sealion 7.

The Sealion 7 has  joined the SUVs in the Ocean lineup alongside the Seal and the Dolphin. The Sealion 7 is offered in two battery options, 71.8 kWh and 80.64 kWh. The company claims that a full charge provides a range of 550 kilometres, while the long-range version offers a range of 610 kilometres.
