17 killed, 24 injured in bus accident in Dhading



Kathmandu, Feb 23: At least 17 people were killed and 24 others injured when a passenger bus traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu met with an accident in Dhading early this morning.

The bus (Ga 1 Kha 1421) fell into the Trishuli River from the Prithvi Highway at Bhaisegauda, Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality–5, at around 1:30 am today night.

According to Armed Police Force spokesperson Bishnu Prasad Bhatta, the bodies of 17 deceased have been recovered from the accident site so far. The 24 injured passengers have been rescued and taken to different hospitals for treatment.

The identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be confirmed. The cause of the accident has not been determined.

Rescue operations are ongoing at the site with coordination among all three security agencies. A rescue team, including divers, has been deployed from the Armed Police Force Nepal Disaster Management Base, Adamghat, under the command of Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Sunil Giri, along with personnel from the Disaster Management Training School, Kurintar. #nepal #accident
